Newspaper clipping of a death notice for Ellis laid-in. ; Jean Ellis's account of her work overseas during WW II as a Red Cross Welfare Officer, told with light-hearted humour. Dodging bombs in London and shells in Normandy, writing letters for wounded men, and learning to bathe in a basin, Red Cross women had to be able to "take it. " Ellis relates how they learned that, while keeping their sense of humour.
